Lotus Shoes - The practice of foot binding started in the tenth century and lasted for approximately one thousand years until the Manchu Dynasty was toppled in 1911 and the New Republic banned foot binding. During this period, approximately one billion women had their feet bound.

Our Lotus Shoes are authentic antiques that have been worn and may have been repaired at some point.

Calligraphy Sets - Calligraphy literally means ‘Beautiful Writing’ and has been accepted and acknowledged as an art form in various cultures throughout the world. But the ancient Chinese Calligraphy is unparalleled.

Jingdezhen Porcelain - For over 2,000 years, Jingdezhen is known as the Porcelain Capital of the world. Originally known as Xinpin, its name was changed when Emperor Jingde (1004-1007) of the Southern Song dynasty, decreed all the pieces made for court to be marked 'made in the Jingde period’.

Korean Celadon - These vases are hand carved and inlaid with the different color clays requiring hours of labor to complete a single vase. They are then fired with a traditional celadon crackle glaze.

Chinese Fans - Hand painted with watercolors, the back features calligraphy. Carved Bamboo Framework. No two pieces exactly a like as they are hand painted. Handcrafted in China. Sandalwood fans also available.

Cinnabar - Cinnabar is a mineral that appears near volcanoes or hot springs.  It is rich in mercury and, when ground into a fine powder, produces a deep red tint. Each piece can have up to 50 layers of lacquer applied before the carving is done. Each layer requiring one to two days to dry.

Cloisonne - Cloisonné is a famous traditional enamelware with a history of over 500 years. Cloisonné is one of the famous arts and crafts of Beijing. The making of cloisonné requires rather elaborate and complicated processes: base-hammering, copper-strip inlay, soldering, enamel-filling, enamel-firing, polishing and gilding.

Gold Leaf Lacquer - Gold Leaf Lacquer ware is one of the finest crafts produced in China. It involves a 20 step process that converts normal objects of porcelain or wood into beautiful masterpieces. Each piece is hand painted and gilded with gold leaf, then finished with over 10 coats of lacquer, a process that can take up to a month to complete.
